NEW DELHI:A 17-year-old was filming a reel for social media. A young man was on his way to the office. One of them did not come home.
A chilling video recorded from inside a speeding Scorpio SUV — just seconds before it slammed head-on into a motorcycle in Delhi’s Dwarka — has reignited public outrage over reckless driving, social media stunts on Indian roads, and a justice system that sent the teenage driver home on bail to write his board exams.
The victim: Sahil Dhaneshra, 23 years old. The date: February 3, 2026. The location: Near Lal Bahadur Shastri College, Dwarka South, New Delhi.
The autopsy report tells the rest of the story — and it makes for devastating reading.

What the Viral Video Shows
A 12-second clip — reportedly filmed by the driver’s younger sister from inside the Scorpio — has been circulating widely on social media since February 17.
The footage shows the SUV hurtling down a narrow, undivided road at what witnesses estimate was well over 100 kmph. The driver swerves sharply to avoid a yellow bus coming from the opposite direction — a near miss by inches. Moments later, the SUV crashes directly into Sahil Dhaneshra’s Yamaha YZF R15 motorcycle, which was trailing behind the same bus.
The video cuts out at impact.
Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, alleges the clip circulating online has been edited to remove the actual moment of collision. She told media: “The speed with which the Scorpio is being driven is clearly visible in the reel. He was driving in the opposite lane and came right in front of the bus and performed a stunt. My son looked to the right to see whether there was space because there was an e-rickshaw on the left side of the bus.”
What the Autopsy Report Reveals
The post-mortem report paints a grim picture of the force behind the impact. Medical examiners confirmed that Sahil died at the scene — what doctors classify as a “spot death.”
Cause of death: Haemorrhagic shock resulting from severe cranio-cerebral trauma.
Head injuries:
- Skull fracture on the left side
- Massive subdural haematoma in the left parieto-temporal region of the brain
- Subscalp haematoma
- Generalised brain oedema (swelling)
- Clotted blood found in the oral cavity
Chest injuries:
- Multiple fractures in the left fourth, fifth, and sixth ribs
- Bilateral hemothorax — approximately 100ml of blood pooled in both pleural cavities
- Significant lung damage
- Internal ruptures to vital organs including the spleen and liver
Other injuries:
- Injuries to the right upper limb
- Fractures consistent with high-speed impact trauma
The report confirmed that death was instantaneous. Sahil did not survive long enough to reach the hospital.
What Happened at the Accident Scene
The collision occurred at approximately 11:57 AM on February 3, near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka Sector 11 — under the jurisdiction of Dwarka South police station.
Three vehicles were involved: the Scorpio SUV, Sahil’s Yamaha R15 motorcycle, and a parked Maruti Swift Dzire taxi. After striking Sahil’s bike head-on, the Scorpio lost control and rammed into the taxi, injuring its driver, Ajit Singh, who was rushed to IGI Hospital for treatment.
Delhi Police reached the scene after a PCR call was received at 11:57 AM. Sahil was found lying on the roadside and was declared dead at the scene.
Inna Makan has alleged that an ambulance was present at the spot but her son was not immediately placed in it. “After I screamed, Sahil was picked up by his legs and hands, without any support to the neck, and taken to the hospital,” she told the media.
The Scorpio at the Dwarka South police station was photographed with its front portion completely crushed. Sahil’s motorcycle, according to reports, was broken into three pieces on impact.
Who Is the Accused: Akshatra Singh, 17
Delhi Police identified the Scorpio driver as Akshatra Singh, a 17-year-old student at a private college in Delhi. He was driving without a valid licence at the time of the accident. He was apprehended at the scene.
Because he is a minor, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and sent to an observation home. On February 10, the JJB granted him interim bail — on the grounds that he is a Class 10 student scheduled to appear for his board examinations.
The decision has triggered widespread public anger.
FIR No. 28/2026 was registered at Dwarka South police station under Sections 281, 106(1), and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Father Also in the Crosshairs
Because the accused is a minor, police have also invoked Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act against his father — a Dwarka-based transporter. The section holds parents or guardians legally accountable when a minor is allowed to operate a vehicle.
The father, who has not yet been arrested, will be named in the chargesheet. The court will determine whether he faces a fine or imprisonment.
13 Challans on the Car — And Nobody Stopped It
One of the most damning details to emerge from the case: the Scorpio had accumulated 13 prior traffic challans, the majority for overspeeding — several issued in Uttar Pradesh.
Despite this track record, the vehicle was on the road. The minor was behind the wheel. And there was no valid licence.
“Some people think they can do anything on the road because their parents are wealthy. This is a criminal mentality,” Inna Makan told reporters.
A Mother’s Grief — and Her Demand for Justice
Inna Makan has become the face of this case. A single mother, she raised Sahil on her own for 23 years. He was heading to work on the morning of February 3.
In an emotional video she shared on social media, she said: “I raised my child for 23 years as a single mother. On February 3, my innocent child was blown away by a car. I am a helpless mother.”
She has appealed to the residents of Dwarka, media houses, and the government to stand with her in seeking justice. She has also called on parents to pay closer attention to what their children are doing on the roads.
Senior police officials have assured her that the investigation will be impartial — but Makan, like thousands who have seen the viral video, wants accountability that goes beyond a bail order and an exam timetable.

The Bigger Picture: Reels, Roads, and Accountability
The Dwarka crash is not an isolated incident. It sits in a growing and disturbing pattern across India — young drivers filming social media content at high speeds, prioritising views over lives, and facing consequences that often feel disproportionate to the harm caused.
A 23-year-old going to work is dead. His mother is asking for justice on television. The teenager who was behind the wheel is at home studying for his exams.
Whether the legal system delivers justice proportionate to that loss — that question remains unanswered.
